It was a little over a year ago when our team at First National Bank of Omaha first sat down to begin designing our ABLE Program, which became the Enable Savings Plan. Our main focus was to connect with the disability community and ask them what it is they want in a savings plan. We are so proud of what we accomplished as a team — and even more importantly, we are especially pleased to be one of the first states in the nation to offer these tax-advantaged savings accounts to help children and adults with qualifying disabilities save for the future.
The most heartening part of the planning process was the many individuals and families we met along the way; they are a true testament to just how important the launch of the Enable Savings Plan is.
Tomorrow at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium we will have the honor of recognizing our “Enable Heroes” on behalf of the entire disability community in Nebraska and nationwide who have advocated for and worked so hard to get the federal and state ABLE passed.
We are so proud to provide this program nationwide to help individuals with disabilities and their families save for their future.
Witnessing our ABLE plan come to fruition tomorrow is a moment I will never forget. It was a true collaborative effort that could benefit many in the future. We’re so excited to watch Jacob Gehringer open the first Enable Savings Plan account. This will be a landmark day for him and the rest of the disability community.
