Time truly does fly—I can’t believe the Enable Savings Plan is turning one next month. What an amazing year it has been. We’re very proud of Enable’s advancements and growth, and believe all of our account owners can attest to its first year of success.
I remember speaking with excited prospective account owners at our launch ceremony at the Henry Doorly Zoo last June. Hearing their hopes for financial independence, and gratitude for the launch of the Enable Savings Plan, made me proud to be part of the implementation of Enable. I am happy to say that we continue to hear heartwarming stories of how Enable account owners are benefiting from their savings.
Some highlights from our first year as a plan include:
- Checking Investment Option: In January, we launched the Checking Investment Option, which provides account owners with a debit card and checks to pay for daily expenses.
- Enable Savings Plan Alabama: In February, we announced our partnership with the state of Alabama, offering Alabama state residents with disabilities the ability to save and achieve greater financial independence and security.
- Expanding our nationwide reach: Since the start of the Enable Savings Plan, enrollment increases on a daily basis. Currently, we have account owners from 37 states, in addition to the state of Nebraska, with 36% of the total assets from non-Nebraska account owners.
Our team believes that everyone should have access to financial independence, and we continue to make it our mission to help those with disabilities save. Looking ahead, we’re excited to support ABLE 2.0, including legislation from Congress to pass the Able to Work Act, Able Financial Planning Act, and the Able Age Adjustment Act. ABLE 2.0 is one of our primary focal points heading into our second year because it has the capability of making ABLE plans more accessible to a wider population of the disability community.
